CF8 Mail Spooler

I have a chronic problem with the way Coldfusion handles the email spooler. Apparently the spooler jams up when there are simultaneous requests. Once jammed there is no mechanism in place to alert the administrator of the issue. The problem only becomes apparent when automated emails go undelivered such as e-commerce receipts for purchases. I would be appreciative of any input anyone may have in the CF community about this issue.
